2010 Between 2006 and 2008, Ballón wrote a fictionalized critical essay titled “The Red Boat Dives into the Political Economy of a” (El barco rojo se inmerge en la política económica de a). This essay would later evolve into the Master’s thesis “Bateau Rouge. Trois étapes de la recherche” (Red Boat. Three Stages of Research, 2009–2011) and into the curatorial project “Le Bateau Rouge” (The Red Boat, 2010–2012).

The curatorial project was active for two years at the association L-Ouest of the Kugler Artists’ Federation in Geneva. This platform fostered connections among the various critical works that were produced and exhibited in collaboration with different artists such as Tilo Steireif (CH), Gabriella Loeffel (CH), Sophie Pagliai (FR), the collective Flaktowers (FR, CH, USA, IT), among others.

Within this framework, a series of guided visits, debates, interviews, and dialogues were organized to discuss topics such as the conditions of artistic labor in Kugler, the problem of gentrification in Geneva, and the situation of the Romani community in Europe.
