2007 This work in progress began in 2007. Since then, Ballón has altered a series of travel documents such as passports, photographs, and airline tickets with drawings, texts, stamps, watercolors, among other techniques. In doing so, she intervenes in the aesthetics of these documents to propose another possible reading of migration, legitimation, and identity.

In “Passport No. 1” (1978/94) she inserts, in the interstices of its pages, the political history of the Peruvian armed conflict. This impulse is also a reappropriation of key aspects of a social identity.
